Open Access Policy

Journal of Maternal and Child Health is an open-access journal that requires authors to make their published, peer-reviewed journal articles open-access. All articles published in this journal are fully open-access, which means that upon publication, all articles are immediately freely available to read, download, and share. Articles are published under the terms of a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, which permits use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. By making all its content freely available to read, the journal expands its reach to anyone globally working in the field. Open-access publishing makes it possible for more scholars, policymakers, practitioners, clinicians, and the general public to be able to view, cite, and share the author’s work.

The costs associated with open-access publishing in the Journal of Maternal and Child Health are covered by article publication charges (APCs). An APC, also known as a publication fee, is a fee which is charged to authors, institutions, or funders. The amount of a one-time APC in this journal is USD 100. Where APCs apply, they are only charged once an article has been accepted for publication. There is no charge if an article is rejected (before or after peer review), and there are no submission fees, no surcharges based on the length of an article, figures, or supplementary data.
